Baby Boy

So my sorority little sister is having a little baby boy soon, and the shower is two weeks ago. Since giraffes are sort of our thing, and she's going with a "Jungle" theme for all of the baby's things, I thought I'd make a cute giraffe baby blanket.

My camera is not that good (as I took this picture with my phone) But its blue, green, white and brown, and the stripes of the backing are the same colors. (The black in the photo is my carpeting).

After many attempts (and major failures) I decided I'm not quite good enough at binding yet, so I just made the backing the same size as the front, sewed the right sides together, and flipped it through a small opening. To then seal that opening I stitched 1/4 from the edge all the way around.

I learned that with the fleece, it stretches quite easily (learned that with my many attempts of trying to do binding) so I did a decorative stitch around each one of the boxes on the front. I wish I could say I pieced the whole front by myself, but in reality, its a panel of fabric I bought (way easier!)

The first

I wanted a place where I could show my work, and a way to teach others my techniques (and a place to get advice). I'm a brand new quilter, and I'm currently learning as I go, so here goes nothing.

My very first finished project:
A father's day present for my dad this year, (he loves the packers).

And here's a half way pictures of it:
A this point I used batting and the backing, and used the letters as a way to hold it all together.
